Also known as Catechu, Cutch is extracted from acacia trees, used in the tanning process of converting animals skins and hides into leather (Watt 1885, 74-75). Sometimes known as white catechu, Gambier is extracted from the uncaria gambir plant (Watt 1885, 77).
